BAPTISM
Baptisms are a highlight at St Mary’s. Baptism is one of the great celebrations of our church life — a moment where we welcome new brothers and sisters into God’s worldwide family, and into our community here at St Mary’s. Followers of Jesus have been getting baptised for thousands of years, following in his example (Matthew 3:13-17) and in obedience to his command, as given to his very first followers (Matthew 28:19).
Baptism is a simple act with huge meaning - in going under the water, we demonstrate participation in Jesus’ death, and in coming up out of it we demonstrate our participation in His resurrection. It is a key moment in the life of every believer, as well as for our wider church family.
