STORY AND VISION

Vision

Our vision is to see all people living the best life in Jesus Christ

We want to be a church that gives itself away to make this vision a reality, giving itself away to God, each other and the people of Camberley and beyond.

As a church in the heart of the Watchetts ward, we want to bring people together to build a community where all can flourish, giving the best of our time, energy, and creativity to see God’s kingdom transform the spiritual, social, and physical landscape of our town.

Values

At St Mary’s we believe vision and values go hand-in-hand. Vision determines the direction and destination of the church, and the values determine the culture.

We want to be a community that is shaped by the story of scripture, practising the way of Jesus, led by the power of the Holy Spirit, and extending the Kingdom of God through the church.

The following values are important to St Mary’s and help us to follow Jesus all the year round.

  • Prayer - Learning to talk and listen to God in fresh ways, so prayer becomes part of everyday life.
  • Worship - Living a life of devotion, shaped by knowing more and more of God’s love.
  • Family - Welcoming people into God’s big, worldwide, imperfect-yet-beautiful family: the Church.
  • Power - Real change comes through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, helping us become more like Jesus.
  • Justice - Following Jesus by working against wrong and unfairness, both in our own lives and in the wider world.
  • Evangelism - Sharing the good news of Jesus in natural, everyday conversations with friends and neighbours.
  • Creativity -Using imagination and creativity to join in with God’s work of making all things new.

Racial Justice at St Mary’s

At St Mary’s, we are committed to growing into a greater reflection of heaven — a community where everyone is valued, respected, and seen.

We long to see a multi-ethnic and multicultural church that reflects the heart of God and the beauty of His kingdom, where every person can say with confidence, “I truly belong.”

Rooted in the vision of Revelation 7:9 — “a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb” — we celebrate the richness of God’s diverse creation and seek to reflect His kingdom here on earth.

We recognise the need to confront racism and prejudice in all its forms and to pursue freedom from anything that divides or diminishes others. Together, we are learning to listen, to love, and to live as a community that honours the image of God in everyone.
